The Young Novelists - September 22, 2017
Sold Out - 9/14/17
We will maintain a waiting list
Described as a roots-rock outfit--and we'd add the descriptor of indie-folk--The Young Novelists will visit our humble corner of southwest Wisconsin from their home in the very cosmopolitan city of Toronto. This married duo, comprised of Graydon James and Laura Spink, is known for their harmonies and engaging lyrics that invite repeat listenings to plumb their full depths. With one novel to his name and apparently others in the works, Graydon is no stranger to stringing together words to tell a story. This stripped down version of their song "Singer-Songwriter" gives you a sense of that (and also features some very unique instrumentation). The sad love song "Couldn't Be Any Worse" showcases their outstanding harmonies and more fantastic instrumentation courtesy of Laura. And the song "Small-Town Hymn" illustrates that Graydon and Laura are familiar with small-town life (and also that they've played in venues much, much cooler than Three Springs Barn). Thankfully, as Canadians, we're sure that they're humble and courteous and will thus happily perform for us. Lastly, if you're wondering about the rock part of roots-rock, check out "Brothers in the Garage".
Regulars, you know the drill: please RSVP to reserve your seats. We're asking $15 for this show; as always, bring cash to pay at the door. Doors will open at 7 with music to begin at 7:30. BYOB for the communal washtubs and a snack to share if you'd like. Here's hoping for a nice crisp night and the first signs of fall.
