The Honey Dewdrops - August 21, 2016

It will be a true pleasure to host The Honey Dewdrops as their music seems made for playing in a cozy barn such as ours. Of The Honey Dewdrops, Acoustic Guitar Magazine says, “Handcrafted sound centered on swarming harmonies and acoustic guitars that churn like a paddlewheel and shimmer like heat waves on the highway.” The couple released their fourth and most recent album, Tangled Country, in 2015 and this interview with Kagey Parrish provides some insight about the process that he and Laura Wortman engaged in to create the songs on that album. But as always, to get a sense of the work of musicians, it’s best to listen to their music. Lowlands reveals their tight harmonies and outstanding country-tinged guitar playing and Same Old showcases Laura on banjo and provides another example of their excellent song writing. And for those of you reading this that make the show, please help us request their cover of Across The Universe (which would be a perfect encore song). To learn more about The Honey Dewdrops, we encourage you to visit their website.

To reserve your seats for this show please email Milesdog@tds.net to RSVP. We’re asking $15 for this show. As always, BYOB for the communal washtubs and a snack to share if you’d like. For this summertime show, doors will open at 7:30 with music to begin at 8:00. The prairie grasses will be at full height and the first of the fall flowers will be making their appearance by this time, marking the end of the summer season. However, this show will mark the beginning of our fall music season, so come out and celebrate the end of one season and the beginning of another with us.
