Barbara Jean & Erik Koskinen - April 12, 2014

Barbara Jean was part of a fantastic evening of music at the Three Springs Barn last summer and not only was the music great, so was the company. We’re delighted to have her back. Barbara Jean’s debut album, The Great Escape, features great songwriting, vocals that evoke the love and loss she sings of, and perfect accompaniment with her banjo, fiddle, and viola playing. If you missed her last time around, check out this video of her song Flesh and Bones to get a sense of her style. One reviewer has said that Barbara Jean is “Minnesota’s answer to Emmylou Harris”. Visit her website and come to our show to decide for yourself.

Erik Koskinen will also be appearing at the Three Springs Barn this evening and we’re very pleased about that. Erik recently released a new album, America Theatre, which is receiving advance praise. As Koskinen himself states on his website, the album is “musically sprouted from the blend of American folk, country, rock-n-roll, and blues [producing] a sound that is distinctive and fresh while familiar and classic.” Check out this video for Erik’s song, Glow Sky Glow, to get a sense of his music and writing, and visit his website to learn more about him.

Doors will open at 7 PM and music will begin at 7:30 PM. Please reserve your seats for this evening; to do so, RSVP to Milesdog@tds.net. We’re asking $15.00 at the door per person, with all proceeds going to the musicians. BYOB for the communal beverage tub, and a snack to share if you like. It’s anybody’s guess if the snow will be gone by the time of this concert, but regardless we’ll all have a fine evening. Please join us.
