Foghorn Stringband - February 14, 2014
SOLD OUT
(as of 1/29/14 - we will maintain a waiting list)
We could not be more tickled for the return of one of our favorites, the venerable Foghorn Stringband from Portland, Oregon. Foghorn will be joining us for a Friday night show, which just happens to fall on Valentine’s Day. With or without a sweety, there could hardly be a better way to spend a Friday night than with the best old-time stringband around. So whether they’re singing sweet old love songs that seem made for us folks in Wisconsin (I’d Jump the Mississippi), or songs of love lost (You Didn’t Have To Go), or simply moving us to stomp our feet to a rousing fiddle tune, these folks will warm our hearts with some fine music.
If you’re not already familiar with the Foghorn Stringband, I think the following, comments taken from their press page, sum things up nicely: “The Foghorn Stringband play old-time American string-band music and they play it with all the passion, warmth, bite and fire of an illicit spirit. And I’m here to tell you that their latest album Outshine The Sun is as close as you’ll get to treading the boards of genuine, smooth-distilled, double-rectified American roots music. If Portland, Oregon had any idea what was escaping into the wider world it would have chained the band down and kept its treasure at home”, Tom Franks, Folk Words.
For this Friday night show, doors will open at 7 PM and music will begin at 7:30 PM. You MUST reserve your seats for this evening; to do so, please RSVP to Milesdog@tds.net. (We think this one will go fast folks!) We’re asking $15.00 at the door per person, with all proceeds going to the musicians. BYOB for the communal beverage tub, and a snack to share if you like. Spend your Valentine’s Day at the Three Springs Barn. We’ll even have some chocolates on hand.
