Erik Koskinen - October 28, 2017

Erik Koskinen plays the guitar as if he were born to it. Unpretentious and utterly at ease on the stage, his musical mastery is a sight to behold. And with Erik, there's much more than meets the eye. Musically, his sound--as stated on his webpage--is a "blend of American folk, country, rock-n-roll, and blues." Lyrically, he "channels the ways of Whitman and reverently enters the anthology of uniquely crafted wry songs with the likes of Woody Guthrie and Ry Cooder while speaking as plainly as your neighbors." Artist is not too strong a descriptor. On this evening, Erik will be joined by his long-time collaborator, Paul Bergen. To see them in action, check out these live recordings of "Nothing Without You" and "Blood and Money". Erik has created cinematic videos; one of his most recent is this heartbreaking video called, "On Christmas Day" (read the video description for full impact). We're asking $15 for this show; bring cash to pay at the door and RSVP to reserve your seat. As always, BYOB for the communal washtubs and a snack to share if you'd like. Doors open at 7 for this show, with music to begin at 7:30. Here's hoping for a crisp fall evening with the smell of woodsmoke in the air, but regardless of the weather outside it'll be a great evening of live music in the barn.
